[ Youth Awareness ] - Using Social Media To Raise Voice Against Child Abuse
"It was a usual Friday evening, but there was something strangely different in the atmosphere; the leaves shuddered as the wind blew across it carrying with it the evil thoughts of the shopkeeper down the alley a block away from her home. Unaware as she was, 8-year old Aliza was pulled towards the evil. After the usual playing with her friends in the block, she exuberantly hopped her way down to her favorite shopkeeper uncle.
Shopkeeper uncle was really sweet to her and gave her an extra candy in exchange for a kiss on his cheek every day. He was super nice to her today, while the 8 year old rested on his lap enjoying an expensive chocolate bar, Uncle Asshole convinced her to come along with him to his apartment to savor the box of chocolates he bought for her. My hands shiver at the thought of what happened in the Uncle Asshole’s apartment. Another 8 year old became the victim of yet another lustful man. She will never speak of the tragedy again because she fears prejudice, and to not put her family’s pride and integrity at stake."
Child abuse has been a concern of prime importance in the society we’re living in, yet it is ignored like any of the other forms of abuse. We are not allowed to talk about these problems publicly or are termed explicit and too modernized if we do.
Emergence of social media has enabled us to talk openly about the complexity of these mind fucking issues, voice our opinions against it and work for their eradication from our society. Social media provides us the platform to launch our campaign for the awareness of such issues and reach out to the NGOs and the activist groups working for the same cause and gain support from a larger audience.

Child abuse is a very serious issue in Pakistan and i’m amazed that no N.G.O. neither any Govt. org launched any awareness campaign (with consistency) on this issue. I remember recommending a proposal to an N.G.O. (which was working for the children in Pakistan) for a series of programs which were to be aired on News-One television. But they excluded two main topics which were Child labor & Child abuse. Now i’m glad to see people like you are using social media to aware people about these issues. God bless you.
Dear Murtaza,
Welcome to UltraSpectra.
Well there are some UN agencies that are working on the very mentioned subject such as UNICEF is directly involved in creating awareness for Child Abuse in collaboration with government of Pakistan and NGOs. But again the question mark remains when it comes to the productivity side o f our NGOs, as UNICEF is a Donner organization and splits up the donations in different NGOs for all project initiatives.
I have worked with a few NGOs (will not name them here) and it was the worst working experience with those NGOs. As I have seen a large amount getting wasted in mismanagement and corruption to be exact. They take donations and fill up their own pockets and have no real connection with the subject they are working on. This results in the negligence of the very sensitive subject remain there as is.
We need to get these things in line if we want some real change w.r.t Child Abuse.
