About a month back this same year we heard news about Facebook acquiring Octazen which was a Web 2.0 service.

Let us have a look at companies or services acquisition by Facebook. Here is a short description:

Facebook acquired Parakey (a web operating system service) – almost two years back

Interesting fact about Parakey is that it was a start-up by the Firefox co-founders, Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told that Firefox’s platform is just like Facebook platform so it can rightly fit in.

Facebook acquired Friendfeed (social aggregation and search service) – almost seven months ago

That was big news for the social media world. Friendfeed was a social media aggregator, capable of adding the ability for users to import activities from third party services like YouTube, Flickr, and Del.icio.us etc. A few other features were also the part of Friendfeed like commenting and liking.

Facebook acquired Octazen (importing address book scripting service) – A month back

The third acquisition was rather smaller than the first two possessions. Octazen was a two employee company with a small service to import address book.

Face book acquired Divvyshot (a photo-sharing service) – Most recently

Divvyshot is a photo-sharing service, which is now acquired by Facebook. The possession amount is still veiled but Facebook has made an official statement to acquire the company already.

These are the by far possessions by Facebook. Let’s see what comes next, and punch in your comments about its latest acquisition :)
